ABOUT ME

I began exploring the practice of yoga in 1998. Wanting to deepen my understanding, and share my love of yoga with others, I completed the 200 hour Yandara Yoga Teacher Training in 2010.  In the past 13 years, I have studied several different styles or traditions of hatha yoga with several teachers. I have also enjoyed many retreats to the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Camp in the Laurentian Mountains in Quebec to learn from the ancient Indian wisdom and classical yoga teachings, which include chanting and meditation. I delight in attending the Toronto Yoga/Pilates Conference each year to deepen my yoga practice. I also enjoy attending local and area classes and workshops with a variety of teachers, broadening my yoga experience with varying teaching styles and techniques.  I believe that no matter what age, size, agility, everyone including you, can benefit from a regular yoga practice. I teach yoga in a non-competitive, accepting atmosphere that can be varied to your specific lifestyle and needs: active and athletic or gentle and restorative. My classes will offer a mindful-based exercise that increases focus, flexibility, and strength as well as the proper use of physical alignment and props to promote your overall health and well-being. Most of all, I will create a moment in your busy life where you can truly connect to yourself, as well as connect with the joy of being a part of a yoga community. I am eager and excited to continue learning, growing and teaching.

Each teacher has their own unique approach to sharing a yoga class but all my yoga classes will include well rounded sequences that incorporate all the physical movements, standing poses, hip opening poses, twisting poses, balancing poses, inversions (starting very basic, which include forward bends), back extensions, and final resting pose.
